Halting StateIt must be Monday. The phone is ringing, and I am now under the gun to approve the final company logo. How can I be expected to undertake such an important task when I can’t even tell you what the color wheel looks like? Instead, let me leave you this fine morning with another great book to read, Halting State (2007) by Charles Stross.

Rarely do I stop reading a book, pick up a telephone and call a friend to tell them how good the book is. I usually have the self-control to wait until the end. Halting State is one of those books that gives me the (good) creepy feeling that the author knows me and is writing exclusively for my entertainment. And, I had to call my gamer friends who have spent way too many hours collecting virtual gold in a virtual world – to tell them that the bank might get robbed. Since reading Halting State, I have become a fan of Mr. Stross – his stories are fast-paced, intelligent and refreshingly original. This is a must read for all geeks everywhere.
